Location: North Dakota 58316
Contract Type: Firm-Fixed Price (Temporary Assignment – 55 Weeks)
Hours: Full-time, up to 40 hours per week; Monday–Friday, with possible weekend coverage. Shifts may be 8 or 10 hours/day.
 
Position Summary:
 
The Temporary Registered Pharmacist will provide comprehensive pharmaceutical services at the Quentin N. Burdick Memorial Healthcare Facility. Responsibilities include inpatient and outpatient medication dispensing, patient counseling, and ensuring compliance with IHS, JCAHO, and HCFA regulations. The pharmacist will function as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team serving primarily Native American patients.

Key Responsibilities:
Interpret and validate medication orders, ensuring appropriateness and checking for allergies and interactions.
Dispense medications using ScriptPro and Pyxis systems; apply prescription and auxiliary labels accurately.
Counsel patients on medication usage and potential side effects.
Ensure all prescriptions are on formulary or approved by the Clinical Director.
Review charts, medication administration records (MAR), and compound/label IV additives per doctor’s orders.
Fill unit dose carts and assess renal function to recommend dosage adjustments as needed.
Maintain inventory and documentation for controlled substances (Schedule II), including DEA ordering.
Participate in hospital-based quality improvement programs.
Maintain proper documentation in Electronic Health Records (EHR).
Collaborate with prescribers and clinical staff to clarify orders and resolve medication-related issues.

Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy.
Current, unrestricted license to practice pharmacy in any U.S. state.
Must meet the same qualifications as permanent IHS pharmacists.
No work or health restrictions interfering with pharmacist duties.
Fluent in English (speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension).
Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to serve Native American communities.
Vaccinations required: COVID-19, Influenza, Measles, Rubella (SGM 21-04 compliant).

Must be unrestricted and valid in any U.S. state.

Reference Letters
Two letters from healthcare professionals familiar with the candidate’s current pharmacy practice.
