Project Scope:
Cloud Platform Services supports the GOAs fully integrated Cloud products Cloud landing zones and M365 services that enable APS staff to work more collaboratively and efficiently as they deliver valuable programs and services to Albertans. The Cloud Platform Services area is also responsible for the continuous service improvement and continuous service development of those services and products.

Reporting to the Director, Cloud Platform Services, the Enterprise Architect resource will provide the planning, coordinating, development, documenting and delivery of multiple M365 and Cloud related projects and services; from the analysis phase through to the implementation phase. The Enterprise Architect may also be involved in managing other team members and providing architectural governance as required.

The Enterprise Architect will review and understand departmental and corporate policies, business rules, data requirements and supporting system processes and ensure the objectives and schedules align with GoA goals and objectives.

This Enterprise Architect will provide recommendations, including details of resource requirements, dependencies, interdependencies, policy implications pertaining to internal/external influences and the methodology to be applied.

This resource will have working knowledge and experience of IT infrastructure environments including general concepts of workstation/server hardware, software build and push strategies, and a general understanding of line-of-business applications and architectures. The resource must have a sound understanding of IT Change and Communication Management and User Acceptance Testing frameworks. We require this resource to have excellent communications skills, both written and verbal. A proven ability to function on an individual basis and in a team environment is essential. Resources awareness of existing GoA and department IT policies, procedures, standards, guidelines and practices is an asset.

Duties:

This role is responsible for understanding, describing translating the GOAs needs it into an overall architecture vision, strategy and a set of architecture principles. This includes the active communication and promotion of the vision, strategy and principles. This role is also responsible for defining the enterprise architecture framework in order to avoid redundancy, have integrated, cost-effective solutions and provide a common foundation for all system, service and infrastructure developments.

• Guide and assist in enablement of business and technology programs and project plans, business cases, roadmaps and other supporting activities.
• Guide and support business activity monitoring and business intelligence (analysis and reporting) activities.
• Support linkages to Government of Alberta strategies and goals.
• Guide and support business, process, application and technology integration activities with other Government of Alberta departments and external stakeholder groups.
• Assist in defining governance and organization design to support new structures, processes, and approaches resulting from business and technology transformation.
• Support internal and external stakeholder engagement workshops and meetings.
• Support program management and change management leads in the successful delivery of business and technical initiatives.
• Provide leadership and guidance to business and project teams that require architectural and technical support.
• Provide tracking and reporting of time and status on all work as required.

Equipment requirements:
• Resource will require own equipment.

Resource must provide their own computer and related equipment. The computer's operating system must be a modern version of Windows or MacOS that is compatible with Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and related software for remote access. Windows is preferred due to better compatibility. AVD/remote-related software will be installed on the resource's computer.

In the event that the Contractor’s resources are directed to work remotely, the Contractor shall be responsible for providing all of its equipment, including computers, software, printers, supplies, desks and chairs. However, the Province shall ensure that the Contractor’s resources have the necessary access and credentials to the Government of Alberta’s system.


The fixed rate quoted must be inclusive of all overhead, office space and equipment, including supplies, administrative burden, mark-up and all other costs to perform the Services for the duration of the Contract.

Working Hours:
• Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday excluding holidays observed by the Province
• Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues.
• The role will be remote, however in the event of an onsite meeting, the GoA does not pay for travel to attend on-site meetings, nor any expenses related to relocation, commuting, housing/accommodation, food/drink.

Notes on Location:
Resource will work remotely, though must be available for onsite meetings when required.

Onsite meetings include but are not limited to strategic, architectural, and technical discussions, meeting with team members, senior managers, directors, executive directors and business clients. Frequency of meeting could be up to 3-4 times per month.

Incumbency:
• Previously this role was filled by a contractor, however, for this and all other opportunities, the Ministry seeks the best person to fill the role.

Standard Background check required
• The Supplier shall, prior to commencement of the Services, provide the Province, on its request and at no cost to the Province, with criminal record checks.

Mandatory Training Courses:
• Once hired the resource will be required to complete all mandatory training.
