Oracle Database Administration (DBA)

DBA - Position Overview

BuzzClan is looking for a motivated Database Administrator (DBA) with 5-7 years of experience, primarily in Oracle databases and with a working knowledge of SQL Server. The DBA will be responsible for managing, monitoring, and optimizing both Oracle and SQL Server environments, ensuring high availability and performance. The role involves routine database administration, upgrades, patching, and performance tuning, with opportunities to work on high-availability solutions and database migrations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and administer Oracle (11g, 12c, 19c) and SQL Server (2016-2022) databases, ensuring stable and optimized database environments.

  • Perform routine tasks such as database backups, restores, and maintenance for both Oracle and SQL Server systems.

  • Support database migrations and upgrades, ensuring smooth transitions with minimal downtime.

  • Implement basic high-availability and disaster recovery solutions such as Oracle Data Guard and SQL Server mirroring or failover clustering.

  • Conduct query optimization, index tuning, and overall database performance assessments for Oracle and SQL Server.

  • Monitor and resolve database performance issues using tools like OEM13c for Oracle and SQL Profiler or DMVs for SQL Server.

  • Apply database patches and perform routine Oracle Grid/Oracle Home patching and SQL Server patching.

  • Work on RMAN for Oracle backups and native SQL Server backup/restore solutions.

  • Develop and maintain shell scripts for automating routine database tasks.

  • Provide basic support for Oracle WebLogic and EBS architecture, ensuring integration with other services.

  • Work with LinuxSolaris, and Windows operating systems for database management.

  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call support rotation to respond to critical issues when necessary.


 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 5-7 years of experience as a Database Administrator, with a focus on Oracle (11g, 12c, 19c) and exposure to SQL Server (2016-2022).

  • Experience with Oracle Data Guard, RMAN, OEM13c, and SQL Server performance tuning tools like SQL Profiler and DMVs.

  • Basic knowledge of high-availability solutions like Oracle RAC or SQL Server mirroring/clustering.

  • Familiarity with shell scripting and automation in database management.

  • Hands-on experience with LinuxSolaris, and Windows operating systems for database management.

  • Experience in query optimization, PL/SQL scripting, and T-SQL in both Oracle and SQL Server environments.

  • Basic understanding of Oracle WebLogic and EBS architecture.

  • Experience in AWS cloud is preferable.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
