Database Developer (MGI)
Role Overview:
We are looking for a Data Engineer with strong expertise in PL/SQL, performance tuning, and UNIX scripting to manage and optimize large-scale data processing. The ideal candidate should have experience in batch data processing, query optimization, and system monitoring while being comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement efficient batch-wise data load processes to handle millions of records in production.
  • Optimize SQL queries using techniques such as hints, partitions, and bulk collect to improve performance.
  • Work with Oracle databases, troubleshoot performance issues, and implement query optimization strategies.
  • Utilize PL/SQL features such as cursors, functions, and regular expressions to enhance database operations.
  • Extract and manipulate data from CLOB and BLOB columns efficiently.
  • Monitor high-consumption processes in UNIX and resolve system performance issues.
  • Understand and modify bash scripts for automation and process optimization.
  • Work with tools such as Splunk, SOAP UI, JIRA, and other system monitoring or debugging utilities.
  • Execute UNIX commands such as GREP, pipes, and file search techniques for log analysis and data retrieval.
  • Collaborate with the team to understand and implement Oracle-based processes specific to the client’s workflow.
  • Manage pressure effectively, think critically, and adapt to changing business needs.
Required Skills & Experience:
  • Strong expertise in PL/SQL, including experience with cursors, bulk collect, and query optimization techniques.
  • Experience in performance tuning, including use of hints, partitions, and indexing strategies.
  • Proficiency in UNIX/Linux commands such as GREP, pipes, and file searching for troubleshooting and system monitoring.
  • Ability to understand and modify bash scripts for automation.
  • Hands-on experience with large-scale data processing and loading millions of records efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Splunk, SOAP UI, and JIRA is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle pressure and multitask.
  • Willingness to work night shifts if required.
