About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Solution Architect with expertise in
SWIFT ISO 20022 messaging format changes to lead the design, integration, and
implementation of payment solutions aligned with the latest standards. As a Solution
Architect, you will play a critical role in translating the recent SWIFT ISO 20022 changes
into actionable and scalable solutions that ensure seamless integration, compliance, and
efficiency across payment platforms.
You will be responsible for designing, architecting, and overseeing the implementation of
solutions that address the evolving needs of the payment systems, including managing
the transition from legacy messaging standards to ISO 20022. You will collaborate with
both business and technical teams to define the architecture for new and updated
payment systems, ensuring they are compliant with ISO 20022 changes.
Key Responsibilities:
Solution Architecture for ISO 20022 Changes: Lead the design and architecture of
payment solutions aligned with the latest SWIFT ISO 20022 messaging standards.
Ensure that the solutions are scalable, secure, and efficient while accommodating the
changes in the messaging formats, transaction types, and fields.
Mapping Business Requirements to ISO 20022: Work closely with business
stakeholders to understand the impact of ISO 20022 changes on payment processes
and translate these business requirements into technical solutions. Map new SWIFT ISO
20022 message formats to business processes, ensuring seamless integration with
internal and external systems.
SWIFT Messaging & Integration: Design the architecture for SWIFT messaging
systems, including the transition from MT to MX formats, ensuring smooth integration
with core banking systems, settlement platforms, and third-party services.
End-to-End Payment Flow Design: Architect and define end-to-end payment
transaction flows that incorporate the new SWIFT ISO 20022 message types, fields, and
formats. Ensure that the systems handle high transaction volumes with speed, security,
and compliance.
System Integration: Lead the integration of payment platforms with existing systems,
ensuring that the new ISO 20022 changes are properly mapped, processed, and
validated across all systems. Ensure smooth communication between systems via APIs,
message queues, and other integration protocols.
Compliance & Regulatory Adherence: Ensure that the architecture is compliant with
relevant financial regulations, including anti-money laundering (AML), data privacy
(GDPR), and other industry standards. Design solutions that support regulatory reporting
in line with the updated SWIFT ISO 20022 format.
Technical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to development and
implementation teams, ensuring the technical solutions meet business requirements and
ISO 20022 specifications. Lead the technical design and provide direction on best
practices for implementation.
Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business stakeholders, product managers,
compliance teams, and external partners to ensure alignment on ISO 20022 changes
and their impact on payment systems. Provide regular updates to senior management
regarding the status of implementation and potential risks.
Testing & Validation: Oversee the testing of the new solution, ensuring that the
implementation is fully compliant with the ISO 20022 changes. This includes
participating in UAT (User Acceptance Testing) and validating message formats, field
mapping, and transaction flows.
Documentation & Reporting: Develop and maintain architectural documentation,
including design specifications, data flow diagrams, and integration models. Ensure that
all stakeholders understand the architectural decisions and that the documentation
supports future system enhancements or troubleshooting.
Performance Optimization: Continuously optimize payment systems for performance,
ensuring that the systems are capable of processing large volumes of payments in real-
time while meeting high standards for security and reliability.
Key Requirements:
Experience:
o 7+ years of experience as a Solution Architect or a senior technical role focused
on payment systems, with deep expertise in SWIFT ISO 20022.
o Proven experience in leading and designing solutions for the transition from MT
to MX messages, particularly for SWIFT or other real-time payment networks.
ISO 20022 Expertise:
o Extensive knowledge of the ISO 20022 messaging standard, including recent
updates, changes, and their impact on financial messaging.
o Proven ability to map business requirements to new ISO 20022 message
structures, ensuring seamless integration with payment platforms and other
banking systems.
SWIFT Messaging & Payments Systems:
o Strong background in SWIFT payment systems, including both MT and MX
formats. In-depth understanding of SWIFT gpi, cross-border payments, and real-
time payment flows.
o Experience designing and integrating real-time payment solutions across
complex global payment infrastructures.
Technical Skills:
o Deep knowledge of security protocols, encryption standards, and compliance
requirements for payment systems
Project Leadership:
o Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to guide cross-
functional teams in the implementation of complex payment solutions.
o Experience working in Agile or Waterfall project environments, driving the
architecture of payment system changes from concept to delivery.
Preferred Qualifications:
