Network Administrator

Preferred Experience: Please ensure that the candidate has 2 to 3 years of prior experience working on government projects or within a government environment.

 

General Characteristics

Monitors, troubleshoots and maintains network (LAN, WAN and wireless) multiplexers, hubs and routers, and uses remote monitoring tools. The duties of this position can be broad and may include such tasks as installing new workstations and other devices, adding and removing individuals from the list of authorized users, archiving files, overseeing password protection and other security measures, monitoring usage of shared resources, and handling malfunctioning equipment. Selects, develops, integrates and implements network management applications for Internet components.

 

Dimensions

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience.

 

Experience:

A minimum of 3 years of IT work experience in infrastructure/network environments in network operations, support, maintenance and administration.

 

Complexity:

Intermediate professional level role. Works on projects/systems/issues of medium to high complexity. Provides daily operations support, maintenance and administration for network systems. Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project leader. May coach more junior technical staff.

 

Tasks and Activities

The resource will function as an integrated member of the Florida Highway Patrol Commercial Vehicle Enforcement team and will provide technical support activities.

 

The resource will be responsible for operational duties and assisting with technical support activities and shall perform, at a minimum, the tasks and/or activities described below:

 
  1. Work with the Department’s Contract Manager to serve as the primary point of contact to ensure that start-up activities are completed within fourteen (14) days prior to the performance of services. Start-up activities include the Department’s fingerprint background check and online information security training security requirements;

  2. Perform software maintenance on statewide computer systems;

  3. Work closely with Department staff and stakeholders to document project business requirements and technical specifications;

  4. Provide technical support for troubleshooting issues;

  5. Maintain and repair document computer systems and equipment;

  6. Provide hands-on leadership for complex activities and projects;

  7. Provide resource management for associated activities and projects;

  8. Serve as liaison with stakeholders and principle line of communication for technical support;

  9. Attend and participate in all assigned meetings;

  10. Attend and complete Department-required training; and

  11. On a weekly basis, complete a Status Report that includes specific tasks handled by both the Project Manager and Project Team(s), and complete a Project Timesheet.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA’s):

Experience:

  • Knowledge of Distributed Processing operations, procedures, and equipment

  • Knowledge of problem-solving techniques

  • Knowledge of the HP Service Manage product

  • Knowledge of information security best practices

  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) concepts

  • Experience in the configuration and use of Microsoft System Center

  • Configuration Manager, Symantec Endpoint Suite, and mobile device management solutions

  • Skill in deploying and administering Windows 7 and Windows 10

  • Skill in enterprise deployment solutions for desktop operating systems

  • Skill in the removal of malware and recovery of system data

  • Skill in the administering of Windows scripting techniques

  • Ability to process information logically and solve problems

  • Ability to remotely troubleshoot and resolve technical incidents

  • Ability to develop and conduct classroom computer-based

  • training related to distributed systems components

  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate multiple priorities and work assignments
