The Ontario Provincial Police seeks an Enterprise Cloud Architect to support enterprise development, cloud modernization, and Architecture Review Board (ARB) documentation. This role designs, recommends, and manages technical architecture across distributed, cross-platform environments, with a focus on Microsoft Azure. Responsibilities include creating enterprise architecture artifacts, aligning with OPS standards, ensuring PIA/TRA/Pen Test readiness, and supporting UAT. Requires 5+ years in enterprise Azure cloud architecture, business problem analysis, and solution design. Candidates should have expertise in systems analysis, ITIL processes, and large-scale architecture design, plus strong communication and documentation skills. Public sector experience is preferred. Hybrid role with occasional onsite meetings.

Description

To support the enterprise development, architecture modernization of cloud services and the development of documentation to support Architecture Review Board (ARB) requirements for the OPP.

Responsibilities

Develops, recommends, implements and manages the technical architecture (hardware, software, database and communications) which will be used for all or specific applications in a large, distributed cross-platform environment. Responsibilities also include the identification of relevant information and the determination of the environment, which will be used for development.

 

General Skills

Leadership experience in the development and implementation of technical architectures at the specified experience level

Extensive experience with at least three different platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, and communications protocols

Experience with middleware and gateways

Knowledge of performance considerations in different environments

Experience in structured methodologies for the design, development and implementation of applications

Extensive experience in systems analysis and design in large systems environments

Knowledge and experience designing processes around ITIL and is able to guide others using this methodology

Experience translating business requirements into reporting needs

Experience preparing conceptual, logical and/or physical processes and data models

Experience developing, recommending, implementing and managing technical architecture

Experience in the use of Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools and other software tools such as project management tools

Awareness of emerging technologies, trends and directions

Deliverables
Deliverables:

Creation of technical specifications for system(s) development

Design, implement and work with the project team in completing all relevant and required documentation.

 Alignment with OPS standards

Business architecture, as well as traceability to solution logical and physical architectures

Ensure PIA, TRA, PEN TEST documents prepared.

Create, review, provide input and support of Enterprise Architecture artifacts for all checkpoints as required.

 Create system and user interface design and modifications (data & screen) as required.

Review all test scenarios to ensure the requirements are met; establish traceability matrix to monitor output.

 Ensure alignment and adherence to Ministry of Government Services’ processes and standards.

 Support the testing team during system and UAT testing.

 Undertake special assignments/sub-projects as assigned.

Create and validate business scenarios and use cases.

 Produce visual depiction of use cases and process flows; ensure alignment with the program area and associated.

Participate in Knowledge transfer.
